Teybrook Orchard Browning Bros
Teybrook is one of my favourite local wedding venues. It’s a super relaxed setting which is perfect for couples who love the outdoors and want a simple setting that’s great for a festival style gathering.
It’s a very ‘outdoorsy’ venue. The whole day happens on the edge of a young woodland and most couples choose to have their ceremony in the wood itself which is so lovely. So it’s the perfect wedding venue if you love being outdoors and it suits couples who are relaxed, informal, outdoorsy and I would say perfect for people who love camping as there’s a lot of quirky glamping options onsite.
Unlike their sister site Chalkney Water Meadows there is no lake here and the site is pretty enclosed so it works really well if you have young kids or dogs at the wedding. This used to be a bit of a more ‘diy’ venue compared to Chalkney but they’ve had a bit of a revamp for 2026 with a new marquee and now couples can use the farmhouse to get ready in which is also a win as sometimes getting ready in a yurt can be a bit of a pain!! I feel like those two extras are going to make all the difference here and makes me excited for my future weddings here!
I think with any wedding venue that’s this outdoorsy you do have to be fairly relaxed about it all because, let’s face it, you’ve got to roll with the British weather conditions on the day. That’s not to say it’s not set up for rain though as there’s plenty of undercover areas with the stretch tent and marquee but it probably wouldn’t suit people are are too uptight about a bit of rain at their wedding – thankfully that’s not really my couples – ha ha!
The Ceremony in the woods
Teybrook Orchard’s ceremony area is a clearing in the woods. It’s the perfect little spot as you have hidden paths leading to it and is away from the main clearing where most of your wedding day happens. It’s also sheltered in there so great on hot days or even with a little rain or wind.
The location
This Essex wedding venue is super convenient for couples from London, Suffolk, Essex or even further afield. It’s close to Colchester and Braintree and there’s a mainline railway station a few minutes away at Marks Tey. Plus it’s just off of the A12. So although you feel immersed in the countryside you are also well connected making it super easy for your guests. It also makes accommodation for people easy too as you’re never too far from places to stay.
My Review of Teybrook Orchard
A full 5 stars for this gem of a place. The team running it are lovely and will make sure your day goes well as well as bringing all the happy vibes. It’s not suitable for people who want a more formal style setting as it is very much ‘camping’ vibes and definitely more rustic rather than luxury but it does really suit people who want a wedding that feels more like a party and people who love the outdoors. This is for couples who like food trucks rather than formal catering, trainers rather than heels, dogs, kids and craziness, and aren’t afraid of getting their outfits a bit grubby and would rather have a big party than a 3 course dinner.
