St Osyth Priory Wedding

I was super excited when Jen and Chris contacted me to see if I could photograph their St Osyth Priory wedding. This is a new-ish venue and it’s been done really well. I love the balance between traditional venue, with all the beautiful grounds and amazing rooms but also the relaxed feel that the staff add to the day.

There are so many outside areas there that you’re really spoilt for choice if you love a garden. You have the lawn or courtyard area out the back, surrounded by some amazing buildings. Out the front is the deer park and large lawn and then to the side is the old chapel and the sunken garden, wisteria walk and a rose garden. It’s a real fairy-tale setting. It was definitely giving me all the bookish, English novel vibes.

Inside there’s accommodation in the building. As this was a family home it has a very welcoming feel and there’s lots of other onsite accommodation too. Then there’s a large room with a bar and upstairs there’s the big ceremony / banquet room. The views out of the huge windows here are magic and really adds a sense of grandeur.

My St Osyth Priory Wedding Review

This venue gets a big thumbs up from me. I can sometimes be a bit wary of manor house wedding venues as they can be a bit controlling and it can affect the atmosphere of the day. But there’s a great, experienced team running this venue and they have a really lovely vibe. It’s certainly got the setting and the backdrop spot on.

St Osyth Priory is for you if:

  • You’re a fan of a more traditional wedding but still want a relaxed atmosphere
  • You want accommodation on site for you and your guests. There’s a range of options, the main house plus separate cottages and from 2025 there will be a hotel to book into too.
  • You love gardens and outside space
  • You want somewhere close to London and the coast but with a rural feel
  • You want to have a wedding that feels luxurious and special
  • You’d quite like to feel like you’re in an English novel
  • You want high end but not stuffy
