How to not feel self-conscious on your family photoshoot.

Are you feeling self-conscious about your family photoshoot? Don’t worry, it’s completely normal. As an Essex based family photographer, I’ve seen many families feeling nervous or worried about how they will look in their photos. But I’m here to help you feel confident and relaxed in front of the camera!

First things first, let’s talk about why you might feel self-conscious. It could be due to a variety of reasons, such as not liking the way you look in photos, feeling awkward posing, or simply feeling shy in front of strangers. Whatever the reason may be, there are ways to overcome these feelings and enjoy your family photoshoot!

Tip #1: Dress to impress (yourself!)

One of the main reasons people feel self-conscious in photos is because they don’t like the way they look. This can easily be remedied by dressing in clothes that you feel confident and comfortable in. Don’t worry about following trends or what others might think, just wear something that makes you feel good. If you’re unsure about what to wear, I’m always happy to give suggestions.

Tip #2: Be yourself

Don’t try to be someone you’re not during your photoshoot. If you’re a naturally bubbly and energetic person, then let that shine through in your photos. If you’re more reserved and introverted, that’s okay too. Just be yourself and trust that your photographer will capture your family’s unique personalities.

Tip #3: Trust your photographer

As an experienced family photographer, I have the skills needed to make you and your family look your best. Trust that I know what I’m doing and that I will guide you through the process. If you have any concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to ask me. On the day your shoot will be very child led – especially if you have young children on babies. We keep everything fun, light-hearted and with the bare minimum of structured poses. Although I will gather you all together for certain photos so I can get plenty of you all as I know how hard these ones are to get!!

Tip #4: Have fun!

Lastly, and most importantly, have fun during your photoshoot! This is a special moment that you’ll want to remember forever, so enjoy the experience. Play with your kids, tell jokes, and just be silly. The more relaxed and comfortable you are, the better your photos will turn out.

In summary, feeling self-conscious during a family photoshoot is completely normal, but it doesn’t have to ruin your experience. By following these tips and being yourself, you can rock your photoshoot and create beautiful memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. So go ahead and book that family photoshoot, I can’t wait to capture your family’s unique personalities!
