Colchester Town Hall Wedding
This Colchester Town Hall Wedding was wonderful. Rina is from Japan and Sam’s family are from Scotland so there was a fusion of their two cultures which made for lots of fun. I love photographing weddings where people incorporate their own unique traditions. It was so interesting seeing some of the Japanese traditions. These guys had actually already been legally married in Japan and this was technically a blessing but it still felt like a full wedding. They finished the reception with a ceilidh which was brilliant and a great way to get people up and dancing.
Colchester Town Hall Venue
As a Colchester wedding photographer I always think the Town Hall is a great wedding venue. It’s right in the centre of town so is super easy to access. Inside it’s full of drama and history. I love all the historical features and the main ballroom has tonnes of room for your guests. The main ceremony room is lovely too and has a balcony which you can use for photos or just to peer out at your guests down below. Or there’s a choice of smaller rooms if you just want a quick ceremony.
Although it’s quite a traditional venue you could also make it your own with lots of alternative decor ideas. There’s certainly the space to really make it your own. I think it would work really well with a vintage theme, like the roaring 20s or rock n’ roll 1950’s styled wedding.
It’s perfect if you have a lot of guests as you can have 200 guests dining and 300 for a reception. But it would equally work well for smaller weddings as it has a much smaller ceremony room too. For a town hall registry office Colchester Town Hall is definitely a bit fancier than your usual registry office. It’s feels more country manor house than registry office!
