Couple doing a confetti exit at their Braintree Town Hall wedding

Braintree Town Hall Wedding

I’m not going to lie when I got booked for my first wedding at Braintree Town Hall I wasn’t expecting much in terms of visual backdrop but actually I really love this town hall!!

Braintree Town Hall could easily be mistaken for a classic London town hall. You’ve got the lovely entrance with grand staircase and then a choice of two ceremony rooms. A gorgeous wooden pannelled room for bigger weddings or a smaller room with large windows for a smaller ceremony. There’s even a lovely room downstairs which you can use for getting ready in. Outside there’s even a pretty courtyard / garden area. It’s not private but in reality it’s not really used much by the public and definitely a space you can use for photos.

Braintree Town Hall Location

Situated in Braintree (surprisingly -ha ha!) in North Essex it’s easily accessible from the A120 which means you can get there easily from most Essex destinations and North London and Hertfordshire. Parking is easy in the town centre and there’s not normally any major issues with traffic compared to some of the bigger towns and cities.

Who’s it for?

Braintree Town Hall would suit anyone looking for a classic town hall wedding but doesn’t want the functional (ugly?!) backdrop of some of the other ones in Essex – Chelmsford I’m looking at you – ha ha! It’s actually a really beautiful building inside and the staff are lovely. It definitely gives me London town hall vibes without all the manic-ness that you often get in the popular town halls in London. No conveyor belt vibes here!!

If you’re planning a smaller wedding then this is definitely a win as it’s pretty but also cost effective and the smaller room is a great size. But it would also work for a bigger wedding. Either way there’s lots of options and it gives you a great way to do the legal ceremony and you could then head to a restaurant or any other place to celebrate for the rest of the day.
