Pretty village halls in Suffolk for a wedding

Village halls are a fantastic option for those looking for a more intimate and rustic wedding. Not only are they often cheaper than traditional wedding venues, but they also offer a unique feel. I love how homely and welcoming village halls can often feel and they’re often in beautiful settings. Plus, you get to support your local community by renting out their space!

So, here are my personal faves for some of the prettiest village halls in Suffolk, UK that you might want to consider for your wedding:

  1. Snape Village Hall – An original village hall in the heart of the picturesque village of Snape. Just minutes from Aldeburgh and close to the wonderful Snape Maltings. This is a well-maintained hall with lots of potential for a wedding
  2. Hacheston Village Hall – A beautiful hall in a countryside setting. This large hall includes a well-equipped hall and is great for accessing the Suffolk Coast
  3. Hartest Institute – overlooking the green of this pretty village, this is a quaint building with lots of nice features and the pub in the village also does tasty food if you’re looking for a treat before or after your wedding.
  4. Hawstead Village Hall A stand-out location and a pretty Suffolk beamed building. The hall is on the green in a wildflower meadow. There is even cleaning included in the package and a playground next door.

There’s a lot of other options so if none of those tick the box for you please feel to get in touch with me and I’ll help you find something that might work for you. I’ve helped a few couples find their wedding venue before they’ve even booked me, I really do love helping people plan their days!!

Make the most of the space

Once you’ve got the hall sorted it’s time to think about making it wedding ready. Village halls definitely require more DIY than a traditional wedding venue but if you want a more personal feel they are great! Here are some tips to help you make the most of your village hall wedding:

  1. Decorate the space – One of the best things about a village hall wedding is that you can decorate the space however you like. Get creative with your decor, and don’t be afraid to add your own personal touches. If you don’t want to do it all yourself or feel overwhelmed then consider someone like Rock They Day Styling who will sort it all for you!
  2. Hire a caterer – If the hall doesn’t have its own kitchen, consider hiring a caterer who can work off site. They can help take care of the food and drinks, leaving you free to enjoy your day. A lot of food van caterers will be fine to work independently of a kitchen. Or consider hiring a fridge for storage and go with a buffet style meal on the day.
  3. Invest in lighting – Good lighting can transform a space, so don’t skimp on it. String lights and candles can create a romantic and intimate atmosphere, while spotlights can highlight key features of the hall. There are plenty of lighting suppliers who can do this for you if you don’t fancy getting the ladder out! Check with your hall about their insurance and restrictions.
  4. Book a good Suffolk wedding photographer – Ha Ha! I couldn’t miss this one out! I love shooting village hall weddings because I’m all about the down to earth, fun weddings. And you can guarantee that a village hall wedding is always going to be relaxed!

I hope you found this list helpful and that you feel inspired to have a beautiful and unique Suffolk village hall wedding. Remember, the most important thing is to enjoy your day and find a venue that really fits your personalities.
